Partial Knee Replacement

Partial Knee Replacement

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a condition caused by thinning and eventual loss of the joint surface cartilage affecting the medial compartment of the knee in the majority of patients with OA. The other two compartments may initially have little or no arthritis, although eventually all compartments become involved. Partial knee replacement is aimed at replacing the worn surface of only one compartment. Since the medial compartment of the knee is the most commonly involved, partial replacement is usually done on the medial side of the knee.
